The Kiss

The Kiss are the vampire family of Point Reyes. They usually spend their time at the manor, maybe Nocte Aeterna, or even a pub. Most of the time though they avoid large open spaces of humans. You know, unless they're looking to feed. Vampires must feed at least twice daily depending on how ravenous they are, which is completely up to you. It could even be more. Most vampires are loyal to the masquerade, but if you are willing to face consequences for breaking it, go right ahead.

Vampires can only turn humans.

Vampires are naturally able to utilize glamour in order to hide their unusual eyes, teeth and skin through simple perception manipulation.

Weaknesses:

  • Sunlight - Due to the weather in Point Reyes, the sun isn't usually even much of a worry, but when the sun does shine it won't absolutely outright kill a vampire, but it will hurt. Think of it as if you're dipping someone into a slow burning acid. Direct sunlight also has a negative effect on vampire abilities, making them incapable of using them.

  • Staked - Like in most vampire lore, a stake to the heart will immeidately kill a vampire. This could be difficult due to their strength and natural agility. If accomplished, at least here in Point Reyes, the player receiving the would-be killing blow decides, ultimately, if this is a permanently fatal blow.

  • Fire - Naturally, vampires are repelled by fire, like the sun. Catching fire to a vampire, a vampire's home and any place they're currently occupying could prove to be fatal. Burn a vampire for long enough and they will be reduced to ash.

  • Decapitation - Another difficult to pull off killing blow, but severing the head of a vampire, like most any other species, is absolutely a certain death. Due to a vampire's nature, this should be something very difficult to carry out.

  • Abilities:

  • Hyperspeed - Requires a vampire not be starved of blood in order for this to work. The increased speed effect lasts for 30 seconds.

  • Mind Control - A manipulation, or persuasion utility skill, which could allow a vampire to get out of, or even into certain desirable or undesirable situations. Such as manipulating someone into giving up their blood flow, and then forgetting the entire situation even took place. Usage limited to 3 times a day and within at least an hour between uses.

  • Increased Sight - For 2 minutes a vampire can increase their ability to see further distances and are 100% more accurate. Limited to one use per day and must not be starved of blood in order to utilize.

  • Sense Aura - Able to sense the aura and activity of anyone who the vampire has fed upon. Also works with Thralls as a constant connection.

  • Vampire subclass:

    Thralls

For the vampire subclass, we have Thralls. What's a Thrall? A Thrall is any species (besides demons) who have fed upon the host vampire's blood. A Thrall experiences the weaknesses of their own species, mixed with new abilities that replace their previous ones. This is indefinite unless the Thrall does not continue to feed from their host, in which case the Thrall would lose their new abilities in two days realtime and return to their previous state.

Note: These skills are mostly the same as vampire skills, except at 25% reduced power (so that a Thrall may not easily overcome their master or mistress).

    Abilities:

  • Increased Agility - A twice a day skill that requires having recently fed from their master or mistress and lasts for 30 seconds that allows the Thrall to move quicker and have increased reflexes. You won't be able to dodge bullets but you can jump out of the way of a moving vehicle rather easily.

  • Hyper Sight - A once a day ability that lasts for 2 minutes which allows the Thrall to see further with greater accuracy.

  • Charisma - A Thrall who is feeding from a vampire has a constant aura buff that increases their natural charisma, making them more appealing to those around them. Anxiety reduction 75%.

  • Increased Strength - On a constant basis, as long as feeding continues, any Thrall who chooses increased strength will have a slightly greater ability in strength schools, such as lifting, moving things or even punching.

  • Other known facts about vampires:

As for other known facts about vampires, they can eat food and drink water and alcohol, but this will have next to no effect on them. In some cases, and with the discretion of the roleplayer in mind, they may even vomit what they've eaten or had to drink.

Vampires must sleep at some given point each day. If not, over a long enough period of time regardless of how much blood they consume, their mind and body will deteriorate, causing them to look older at first, and at the final stage, like a rotten corpse. The effects this has on their minds can range from scattered thinking to full-blown psychosis.

To vampires, the blood of each species tastes different and has specific effects.

  • Werewolves - The blood of a werewolf taste rough, like jerky and beer, and even just a small amount of it will cause a drunken effect on the vampire, usually incapacitating them no matter how much of it they have. In the world outside of Point Reyes, werewolves were hunted by vampires for this very reason, because vampires cannot get drunk off of human alcoholic beverages.

  • Demons - A demon's blood is like swallowing one hot pepper after another, increasing in intensity. For a vampire, it would have the effect of downing three energy drinks at once and may (at the roleplayer's discresion) cause the vampire to be awake for multiple consecutive days without sleep.

  • Fae - A Fae's blood tastes just like a sweet candy and, instead of causing the vampire to stumble into rapid drunkeness, causes them to enter a state that would be comparable to getting high. Not many vampires have had Fae blood, so this isn't exactly a widely known fact. But, once found out, it would be reasonable to assume that depending on the vampire's personality, they may continually seek out Fae blood.

  • Humans - At least we have humans. Unfortunately, humans don't really ever taste all that remarkable. Some vampires say certain human blood tastes salty, or even pulpy. The effect human blood has is simply the effect it has always had—sustainability.

  • Vampire turning:

In order to turn a species into a vampire, said species must first be nearly entirely drained of their own blood. Meaning, literally to the point where they are on the brink of death. Then, for three days, they must drink from the host vampire, growing closer and closer to undeath each day. In order to seal the deal, the to-be-turned vampire must be buried for a full day and, at the rise of the moon, they will awaken a fledgling, or a brand new vampire.

There is a small chance that the vampire-to-be could end up biologically regecting the blood. Unfortunately, this would cause them to die during the burial process (and to never awaken from it). But this is only one of the reasons that turnings are usually strictly forbidden, at least from public knowledge.
