The clip-clop of her designer short heels filled the hallways. Every step so poignant, so powerful, yet so elegantly feminine. She barged into the security room, throwing the armored door open with ease, making her employees in the room straighten up in their seats. She stopped her advance in the middle of the room, her golden eyes surveying the myriad of monitors before her showing every nook and cranny of her empire.
She snapped her fingers impatiently.
"Someone-someone talk to me, right now."
"Everything is in order, ma'am." The current security lead stated in a firm tone, standing up as he reported to his boss.
"No, no it isn't. It doesn't feel right." She patted her foot impatiently on the floor, one of her little jittery impulses.
She narrowed her eyes, running the tip of her left fang over the edge of her lip in yet another tick of hers as she surveyed the monitors.
"There!" She pointed. "Zoom in on grandpa cowboy right there."
With a few button presses the camera zoomed in on the old man with a cowboy hat. Almost as if by cue the man switched a card out of his sleeve. Delondra's eyes flared up, her dark eyebrows furrowing furiously.
Before she could say anything the lead clicked his walkie-talkie on. "Someone move in on the old man with the cowboy hat at table six. He's been cheating. Make sure he never returns."
Delondra moved up to the lead, looking down at him, her left eye twitching slightly.
"Mr. Ashbrook, let me make this perfectly clear, given you are new here: the only thing saving you from being thrown out the door with that old geezer is the fact that your qualifications are exceptional for someone who lives in our quiet little town. I expect you to be more diligent from now on. Is that clear?"
He clicked his heels together, visibly resisting raising his hand to his temple in a military salute.
"Y-yes, ma'am! It won't happen again!"
"It better not. For your sake."
Delondra turned on her heel, her wavy hair gracefully dancing around her oval face. She pulled out a golden pocket watch out of her pinstripe suit's vest, clicking it open. She took a deep breath, slipping the clock back in its pocket.
"Stay diligent, my lovelies." She said in a low purr, "Now if you'll excuse me, I have a meeting to attend to."
She snapped her fingers impatiently.
